Carved and Painted Diorama of the Yawl Dorade , James Keating, Reading, Massachusetts, c. 1932, the vessel rendered in three dimensions on a painted background and sea in a molded black-painted frame, identified in inscriptions on the reverse, 18 1/2 x 15 1/2 in. overall. Note: As mentioned in an inscription on the reverse, the Dorade was a 52-foot yawl, and was the winner of the famous 1931 Transatlantic Race, a 3,000 mile ocean race from Newport, Rhode Island, to Plymouth, England.
