Engraved New York Map Horn, c. 1760s, horn with Spanish brown painted pine plug, engraved image of New York City, ships, windmills, hunting scenes, the Hudson River, Albany, Halifax, and many other forts, as well as a hunter with his dogs shooting at a deer, and remnant of original leather strap, lg. 20 in. Provenance: The Charles D. Cook collection, by family descent to the consignor. Note: This horn is pictured in the May 1925 issue of "Antiques Magazine" in the article "Map Horns" written by Howard M. Chapin and Charles D. Cook, p. 257, figure 7. According to the article, this horn was displayed at the Providence exhibition of 1921.
