Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951) Alert! , 1925, probably from the published state of 150 (Paff, 242). Signed "FrankWBenson." in pencil l.l. Drypoint on laid J. Whatman paper with watermark, plate size 5 x 7 in., unmatted, unframed. Condition: Margins over 1 1/4 inches, deckled edges, pencil annotations to lower margin, soiling and fingerprints to margins and verso. Provenance: Descended within the family of the artist. N.B. The lower margin is inscribed "Not final state." It is possible that this is an undocumented trial D impression.
