Attributed to John van der Banck, British, (1694- c. 1739), "Duke and Duchess of Marlborough", oil on canvas circa 1730, unsigned, and measuring 78 inches by 65 inches and mounted in a massive gilt-gesso frame with some chips and blemishes. A red-velvet matting frames the work. There is flaking along the top and left side edges of the painting as well as a five-inch tear in the left middle quadrant. The painting appears to have been touched-up in places. The artist was a respected and well-established court painter of his day. Charles Spencer III is the Duke of Marlborough depicted in this important painting. AGOPB Will No Longer Ship Nor Pack Items. At Your Request, We Will Provide You With a List Of Local Shippers.
