Needlework and Watercolor Portrait of a Member of the British Volunteer Rifle Corps, possibly by Mary Linwood (1755-1845), Leicester or London, England, c. 1803-12, worked in silk threads on a silk ground, the soldier holds a flintlock rifle in his right hand, his left arm extended, and stands under a tree, facial details and elsewhere painted with watercolor, (toned, minor foxing), 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. (sight), with eglomise mat and gilt ropetwist frame.
