Three Slip-decorated Redware Plates, Trenton, New Jersey, and New York, mid-19th century, all with yellow slip-decoration and coggled rims, the smallest with single and double squiggles and marked on the base "J. McCully/Trenton" (repaired crack); the middle-sized lettered "ABC" above a flourish (chips to rim, losses to slip); the largest lettered "Loco/foco" above a multi-loop flourish, dia. 8 1/4 to 12 in. Note: The word "Locofoco" refers to a radical wing of the Democratic party founded in New York State in 1835, which exerted some influence over decision making in the late 1830s and early 1840s, primarily with respect to the privatization of banking.
