N.B. A photograph that shows some of these stained glass panels in situ in an interior of a New York city house accompanies this lot. The house remain unidentified. These panels, as well as Lots (145, 365, 366, 389, 444, and 475) were purchased from this house by the previous owner of the works. Doig-Bernadini Studios was located at 230 West 13th Street, New York. The company was founded as Bernadini Studios in 1850, specializing in designing and constructing Catholic church interiors. In 1943, William Anthony Claude Randolph Doig renamed the business Doig-Bernadini. Under this name the company supplied mostly Catholic, and some Protestant and Jewish houses of worship, with specially designed furniture and furnishings, including marble statuary and stained glass, often imported from European suppliers and makers.
