Pen and Ink Calligraphic Reward of Merit with Silhouette, awarded to James Long, Clarence Center, New York, November 28, 1866, worked in blue pen, depicting a quill above a wreath with a hollow-cut silhouette of a boy, presumably the recipient of the reward, above a smaller wreath with a hollow-cut depicting of a house, lettered "Lizzie L. Ballow/Teacher" below, (water staining, paper toned), 12 x 15 1/4 in., in a molded giltwood frame.
