Two Painted Pine Apothecary Boxes, England, 19th century, the square lids with applied molded edges above the conformingly shaped nail-constructed boxes, with applied gilt labels reading "WORMWOOD. " and "BEST HOPS." in black lettering, old surface, (imperfections) ht. 15 1/2, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 8 3/4 in. Note: There is an early 20th century label for uva ursi (an herbal remedy) on the inside of the wormwood box lid, and varied inscriptions in pen and pencil inside each lid.
