Identified Civil War Artillery Gunner's Pouch, Belt, and Tools, c. 1861-65, leather belt with an iron roller buckle, marked on the inside H. Richardson/Co. E. 1st Arty. N.Y.S.V. , and a leather gunner's pouch, marked inside the flap H. Richardson/Co. E. 1st Arty. N.Y.S.V. , pouch holds a vent clearing punch, lanyard, and two gimlets. Note: Battery E of the 1st New York mustered into service on September 13, 1861, engaged during the siege of Yorktown, Williamsburg, the Peninsula, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, North Anna, Petersburg, and was with the 5th Army Corps during the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox, Virginia.
