Sole Sales Agent , shaped base in original maroon paint with gilt edging, steel center spindle, threaded handle with cup at the top for turning by finger, and black japanned tin horn with brass ferrule, two cartons containing nine wax cylinders, both with their original labels, original maker's shipping crate or packaging box with label on one side reading: The Toy Graphophone, The Child's Talking Machine Columbia Phonograph Co. , and illustrations, advertising, and operating labels on the other sides, together with an original broadside from Columbia Phonograph Co. advertising the Toy Graphophone for 8 dollars. Note: Introduced in 1899, the Columbia Toy Graphophone was originally advertised for $3, with wax records sold in packs of five for an additional 50 cents. The heavy turntable, which mounts on a spindle on the teardrop-shaped base, acts as a flywheel when the handle is turned by fingertip.
