Lakota Painted Hide Winter Count, c. late 19th/early 20th century, painted on horse hide and depicting events c. 1800-75, probably a later copy of the Long Dog winter count, drawn in black and red/brown pigments, each character representing an important event during a given year, (tears in the hide), 51 x 27 in.
