Perrine, Van Dearing (1869-1955) Studies of Isadora Duncan Dancing and One Framed Pastel, Inscribed. Eighteen sketches on sixteen sheets of paper, executed with a waxy crayon, quick gestural drawings of Duncan dancing, with a framed pastel derived from the sketches, signed on by the artist on the mounted, presented to Percy MacKaye, matted and framed; the studies mostly 12 3/4 x 8 in., two slightly narrower; the pastel 12 x 9 in. Duncan, Perrine, and MacKaye worked together in various artistic collaborations in the early part of the 20th century. Duncan so admired Perrine's drawings of her that she chose them to adorn the program for her performance at the Metropolitan Opera House in November of 1916. Provenance: the collection of Percy MacKaye (1875-1956), by descent to Marion MacKaye Ober.
