Scandinavian Revival 14kt Gold Brooch, E. F. Dahl, c. 1870, designed as a fibula with Iron Age zoomorphic designs, applied wirework, strapwork, and stippeling, 31.5 dwt, lg. 3 7/8 in., signed Note: Jewelry designs based on ancient gold ornaments found in Denmark were popular in the mid-nineteenth century. The marriage of Princess Alexandra of Denmark to Prince Albert Edward of Wales, later King Edward VII popularized the style in England. E. F. Dahl of Copenhagen was one of the primary goldsmiths producing works in the revival taste.
