Four Nested Tables, China, late 19th century, black lacquer and gilding over soft wood, all tops decorated with a similar scene of an elegant garden gathering, top of the tallest opens to reveal a checked game board on one side and a felt-covered work surface on the other, the lyre-shaped legs decorated with floral motifs ending in gilded paw feet, bowed stretcher at bases, tallest ht. 27 3/4, wd. 19 1/2 (wd. top opened 32), dp. 12 1/4, other tables ht. 26 3/4, 26, 25 1/4 in.
