(32.4 x 21.5 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Subtle crimps at u.c. and l.c. N.B. In 1936 at the young age of 21, Arthur Rothstein was the first photographer hired by Roy Stryker of the federal government's Resettlement Administration. The agency's goal was to document efforts to alleviate the economic problems facing the nation, as well as the effects of the Great Depression on struggling families as demonstrated in this portrait of a poor mother and child in Arkansas.
