William Trost Richards (American, 1833-1905) Coastal Cliffs Signed "Wm. T. Richards." l.l., identified on a label from Frank S. Schwarz & Son, Philadelphia, on the frame backing. Oil on canvas mounted to board, 9 x 15 1/2 in. (22.9 x 39.3 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered retouch, crease to u.l. corner. N.B. The jagged rock formations and composition are similar to Richards' known views of Icart Point on the island of Guernsey.
