Lorraine Shemesh (American, b. 1949) Shower Signed "Lorraine Shemesh" l.r., signed, inscribed, and dated "SHEMESH/PROVIDENCE R.I./1/30/74" on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 72 1/2 x 54 1/4 in. (184.2 x 137.8 cm), framed. Condition: Very minor canvas ripple at u.l. corner. Provenance: Purchased from Alpha Gallery in 1974; collection of Dennis Sullivan, through to the current owner. N.B. This work was created when the artist was teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design. The model is purported to be Dana Buchman, a fashion designer who was a student at Brown University at the time.
