Autographed letter signed ("Henry W. Longfellow"), four pages, on a bifolium, Cambridge, October 20, 1847. Longfellow writes to the poet William Hosmer to tell him how much pleasure his works have given him and to point out how similar he found the prose between Hosmer's work "The Months" (illeg.) and Longfellow's at the time unpublished poem "Evangeline," which he then quotes in part. Framed together with an autographed letter signed (Wm. H. Hosmer"), one page, double sided, Avon, October 30, 1847. In response to Longfellow's letter.
