Inscribed in pencil by Tennessee Williams on the f.f.e.p. with the closing lines of the second act of : "You can still get away I can still help you, baby. Thanks but no thank you, Miss Lucy. Somehow, I don't know how, but somehow, I'll get her out of St. Cloud. I'll wake her up in my arms and give her life back to her. Yes, God help me, somehow."
