Promissory note signed ("Josiah Bartlett"), third-person, in-text, April 20, 1776. Also signed by witnesses Hezekiah Young and Jacob Foot, and by Nicholas Gordon with his "X." Docketed by Bartlett on the verso, "April 19th 1776 Recd Nineteen Shillings & 3 pence by Nathl Garlands order." Folded vertically in thirds and horizontally in half; light toning at creases; marginal chipping. 4 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches.
