Paris: Typographia Regia, 1642. Folio, contemporary calf, richly adorned with a repeating gilt-stamped "L" surmounted by a crown alternating with a fleur-de-lis, centerpiece arms of Louis XIV, board edges gilt, gilt-lettered red leather spine label, spine gilt in compartments echoing the pattern on the upper and lower boards, engraved title page. One of the finest specimens of the art of printing in the time of Louis XIV, with an engraved title page by Claude Mellan, and fine binding by the King's binder, Francois Ruette. Manuscript document to f.f.e.p. with the IHS stamp (faded). Some very light wear to the boards; 2-inch tear to p. 3.
