having rectangular panels depicting various birds in jade and other carved hardstones in naturalistic poses perched atop craggy branches and with others in flight, the panels having a reserve of carved cinnabar lacquer having various planes of repetitive geometric designs to show the topography of the landscape, framed with Chinese hardwood, possibly huanghuali and having floating rectangular panels above and below, having calligraphic inscription at the top left as well as a Qianlong reign mark and two seal marks, the reverse inscribed throughout with a dedication from a Hunan government official presenting the screen to his mother on her seventieth birthday, with a Qianlong year cyclical date mark. Height 8 feet x width of one panel 19 1/4 inches x depth 1 1/2 inches.
