A. Brockie Stevenson (American 1919-2009) "Peruvian Desert Scene"-1949. Watercolor on paper painting depicting a South American desert landscape in Peru with large mountain on left in front of expansive hilly terrain marked by green spikey cactus, rocks and dramatic shadows. Signed and dated lower right "A. Brockie Stevenson Arequipa, Peru 1949". Framed 28" x 33". Unframed approximately 18.75" x 24". Stevenson's art is well regarded in the field of American Realism. His work can be found in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Corcoran Gallery. This work was painted a during his time in Peru while on scholarship. He stayed in South America for seven years to paint before moving back to the United States to teach.
