Two original pen and watercolor drawings on one sheet of Babar at a jazz club and an antique store in New York, signed twice "Laurent de Brunhoff" and "LB" at lower left of the two drawings. The finished illustration, for which this drawing is a preliminary sketch, appears in After the death of his father, Jean de Brunhoff, Laurent de Brunhoff completed two unfinished works by his father followed by numerous additional titles in the Babar series. 11 x 7 1/4 inches.
