Presentation copy, inscribed "For Friend Nellmuth from the author," with a page of autograph manuscript signed, headed "Kind Reader," preceding the title of the first work, and six pages of autograph confessions "The Great Trumpet Sounded in my Ears..." signed, at the end. De Brahm was the author of the first map of South Carolina and Georgia and The Atlantic Pilot. The copy of the first work in the British Library is accompanied by a letter from the author to Thomas Paine similar to the one in the present copy and headed "Kind Reader." Wear to wraps with corners creased; lightly spotted and stained; stab hole through first few leaves not affecting the text.
