Circa 1850. Painting of a detail from the lower right portion of Spanish artist Diego Velazquez' masterpiece "Las Hilanderas" (The Fable of Arachne)--c. 1657 currently housed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain. Depicting two female weavers at work, traditionally believed to be from the workshop of Santa Isabel. One figure (thought by scholars to be Arachne) portrayed from behind with an outstretched arm and in a white blouse. The other female assisting in the workshop depicted in profile. Unsigned. Stretcher with Wally Findlay Frames, New York label at top. Framed 54 inches x 68 inches. Unframed 47 inches x 62 inches.
