Printed paper covers, pamphlet, good condition, 16 pages, presentation copy from author. Cover title, "Prof. Evans' valedictory address." C. A. Swan, Printer, Chicago. Marked foxing throughout; personal inscription on front cover, "Miss Ann Evan with kind regard of her brother the author." Two copies noted in Douglas C. McMurtrie's, "The First Printer's of Chicago," 1927. Copies owned by Rush Medical College library and the U.S. Surgeon General's library. This copy was sold to noted book critic Van Allen Bradley at the Lawrence Dicke auction of Chicago Americana for $375.00 in 1976. Evans was a founder of Northwestern University and the town of Evanston, Illinois, cradle of Northwestern University. Evans invested in railroads and became the Governor of Colorado territory and later elected a senator to the U.S. Congress. A 159 year old rare association piece of Chicago medical ephemera.
