Continental School, 18th century. Black lacquered wooden corner cabinet with two swing front hinged doors with hand painted figural decoration of the Beheading of John the Baptist (also known as the Decollation of St. John the Baptist). John the Baptist's head held by semi nude servant figure on right door. Salome stands at full length on the left door in a courtly interior marked with architectural arches. Height 36.3 inches, width 22.25 inches, depth 15.25 inches. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia.
