From his friend Thornton Wilder. June 15, 1926. Lawrenceville, N.J." Below this inscription, Wilder quotes: " . . . Why read me at all, my son? Let us read us more. Let us seek out some congenial friends," from page 65 of the book. Manuscript ex-libris of Paul F. Husserl; ex-libris Roger H. West to front pastedown; newspaper portrait of Wilder pasted to verso f.f.e.p.; same portrait, larger version, pasted to rear endpapers; spine and boards worn; overall in good condition.
