American, Early 19th century (Boston, circa 1800-1810). Side chair with bird's eye maple wood frame with rectangular back with four thin columnar slats (with slight entasis) with Gothic style fan form capitals. Seat upholstered in brightly colored cream, red, blue, yellow, pink and orange striped velvet fabric. Side chair raised on four legs, front two of fluted tapered form and on spade feet. Height 37.5", width 20.25", depth 18". Seat to floor 18.5". Provenance: Estate Antiques Inc., Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1999.
