A group of 4 signed letters by Oliver Wendell Holmes, ca. 1864-1890. The first to W. W. Greenough, dated April 10th from 8 Montgomery Place, pertains to his family's genealogy. The second to an unknown recipient, dated Nov. 15th, 1864 from 21 Charles St. pertains to a physiological examination and refers to his work for William Cullen Bryant's 70th birthday. With typed transcript. The third, dated Jan. 17th, is an invitation for a friend to join him the following Saturday. The fourth to Story, dated August 27th 1890 from Beverly Farms, Mass., refers to James Lowell, describing his medical condition in detail, and quotes a letter received from Lowell by Holmes, which also sends "a pleasant message to my son, the Judge." Also refers to his writing the introduction to an edition of Milton's Areopagitica. With typed transcript.
