Autograph letter, signed "C. J.," to his friend Christiana Morgan. Dated February 26th, 1932. One page, double-sided, on the letterhead of Jung's practice at 228 Seestrasse in Zurich. A lay psychoanalyst and important member of Jung's circle, Morgan served as the inspiration for the Vision Seminars held by Jung from 1930-34. In this letter, Jung apologizes to Morgan for not having thanked her for her permission to continue the seminars: "You can't imagine, how useful your visions are for the explanation and demonstration of the function of the unconscious. I haven't come across another case, that provided me with an equally rich and beautiful material." Jung also questions the psychoanalytic orientations of Morgan's long-time lover, Henry Murray, saying "Murray has written to me recently. I think he is quite right in getting the reductive Freudian point of view too. But does he submit to it head, heart and soul? If not, he would not get the gist of it. One should not feel lukewarm about it, like the people who try Catholicism for a bit and then a shot of Buddhism and after a while a course of Christian Science. The Lord said once something very unpleasant about this kind of empiricism." In near fine condition, with only slight soiling and fold-marks. Together with, By Claire Douglas. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1993. With letter to Hallee P. Morgan, Christiana's daughter-in-law, laid in.
