French, late 19th/ early 20th century. A pair of Regence style carved oak fauteuil armchairs with shaped and padded seat and seat back, each chair raised on four French cabriole legs with hoof feet and acanthine knees joined by incurvate serpentine stretcher with rosette center medallion, the legs joined at top with shaped apron to each side bearing carved diaper patterning and central floral relief - the front apron with pierced rocaille and floral motif, with carved scrolling serpentine arms with carved hanging bell flowers at back and acanthus leaf adorned handgrips, and serpentine upholstered seat back with oak framed reverse, the whole covered in ecru fabric. Approximate overall height 46.75", width 27.25", depth 26", seat height 19", seat depth 19.5".
