Chinese, 19th century. Nicely carved grouping depicting a large foo dog at top with two smaller foo dogs below her surrounded by stylized waves at back. Group of three foo dogs raised on a rectangular architectural form with twisting scaled serpent/dragon forms wrapped around each column with four figural depictions of different people at center carved in relief. Architectural element floor and platform with additional engraved peony decoration. Unmarked. Height 9 inches, width 3.25 inches, depth 3 inches. According to the consignor, purchased in Highlands, North Carolina in August of 1993.
