English (London), 19th century. Black lacquered box with hand painted chinoiserie decoration throughout including architectural and garden scenes on sides with gilt accents and an oval medallion on top of hinged lid with seven various playing cards including the queen and king of diamonds and cards representing all four suites. Playing card or game storage box raised on four metal paw feet. Decorative box also with two metal lion's heads on sides with circular metal handles in mouths. Pink painted interior with a circular trade label on interior of lid that reads "DAW, 39 Cheapside" for Joseph Daw, 19th century jeweller and toymaker in London. Height 4.25 inches, width 10 inches, depth 6.25 inches.
