Jules Victor Verdier (French 1861-1926), "Nymphs". Monumental and exceptional oil on canvas painting depicting three nude female beauties in the form of mythological nymphs emerging and writhing out of shallow water on a rocky waterline. Women in various positions reaching upward and struggling on the terrain in gestures of vulnerability. Work painted in soft tones of gold, tan, cream, pink, and green. Signed and dated lower right "JULES VERDIER 1893". Accompanied with copy of invoice from Kurt E. Schon Fine Paintings Ltd., to Mrs. Marie B. Patton in December of 1992. Also accompanied with copy of document prepared by Kurt E. Schon Fine Paintings on the painting and artist. Verso with label from Kurt E. Schon Fine Paintings, New Orleans, Louisiana as well as metal tag from gallery. Provenance: Kurt E. Schon Fine Paintings, New Orleans, Louisiana, purchased by Mr. Thomas V. and Mrs. Marie B. Patton, Atlanta, Georgia in 1992.
