First quarter of the 20th century. Two large papier mache and polychromed striped orange tigers in an elongated, crouched and alert position as if ready to pounce on their prey. Tigers mounted on greenish rock form display platforms with "LEARBURY TIGER" at bottom in capital letters in orange. Animal figures were produced for the Learbury Clothiers, a store that was located in Syracuse, New York, for store advertising displays and/or parades, lions possibly made by Old King Cole Displays Inc., Canton, Ohio as they handled the clothier's advertising displays. Papier mache lions accompanied with two original rectangular heavy trunk form packing cases with orange painted text including "Handle with Care", "Fragile", and "This Box Contains Learbury Fashion Display". Tiger forms measure approximately 27 inches high, 71 inches long, 27.5 inches wide.
