English, 19th century (circa 1860). Mahogany, tiger maple and satinwood framed Davenport desk with slanted green leather inset writing surface in front of pierced brass accent at back edge. Sloped surface lifts to reveal storage and compartments within. Sides in mahogany with panel framing and large scroll accented brackets. Desk with five pull out drawers lined in cedar and with round knob pulls. Height 36", width 22.9", depth 20.9". Provenance: Livingston Antiques, Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1999.
