(9 7/8 in.), each with an underglazed dated Imperial Cypher of Alexander III Previously titled fifty place settings were originally executed between 1809 and 1817 for use in the Winter Palace. It acquired the name in honor of the director of the Imperial Porcelain Facory, when it was transferred to the Catherine corpus of the Peterhof. The service was expanded later in the nineteenth century to more than 4,500 pieces.
