British, Late 18th/Early 19th century. Pair of matching mahogany wood and satinwood inlaid knife boxes with almond form medallion on hinged lid with shell decoration and rope string inlaid on edges. Hinged lid opens to fitted knife storage compartments within. Height 17", width 12", depth 14.4". Provenance: Estate Antiques, Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
