French, Early 19th century (circa 1810). Empire cream colored marble top figured mahogany chest with six pull out drawers with original brass lion's head drawer pulls flanking original dore bronze escutcheons. Columnar pier accents on sides topped with dore bronze female facial masks. Raised on carved paw feet at front, turned feet at back (one of which is a later restoration). Stamped on back "C.I.E. MARCHAND". Height 57.75", width 38", depth 16.25". Provenance: Church Street Galleries, Charleston, South Carolina whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.
