set against and ochre-colored ground, the figure of Mother Mary gently directing the viewer`s attention to the Christ Child as the source of salvation for mankind, Jesus looks directly at the viewer, holding a scroll in one hand and raising the other in a gesture of blessing, in the lower right section of the border is an image of a saint looking up at the figure of Mary and Christ. Egg tempera, gold leaf and gesso on wood panel with a kovcheg and a rubchik. Two insert splints on the back (both missing). 33.2 x 27 cm (13 x 10 5/8 in.)
