An Ere Nouvelle black velvet toque with attached black net veil, circa 1940. Exaggerated beret style loop at center of crown. Underside of crown is stamped "Aurore/ Made in France." Label reads "Ere Nouvelle/ New York." Accompanied by newspaper clippings in which Garbo can be seen wearing a similar style hat as she filled out her United States citizenship paperwork in 1950. Appears in the book Greta Garbo: The Mystery of Style edited by Stefania Ricci (Milan: Skira, 2010) and previously exhibited: Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, Greta Garbo: The Mystery of Style , February through September 2010.
