A survey buggy seen aboard the Nostromo in Alien (20th Century Fox, 1979). After bursting through the chest of Kane, plated by John Hurt, the small version of the xenomorph escapes, and Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, Brett, played by Harry Dean Stanton, and Parker, played by Yaphet Kotto, hunt through the giant ship to find it. Weaver’s character passes by this vehicle shortly before the death of Stanton’s character. The static prop buggy is made primarily of wood on a custom frame made by welding a center support to front and rear suspension mounts for the tires. The intricate detailing is made of wood, metal, electrical components, camera parts and more. The entire unit was gold painted, then detail painting was added for highlight and color. Categories:
