$31,250
A white Everlast terrycloth three-quarter-length training robe made expressly for Muhammad Ali in the early 1980s and worn by Ali while training in preparation for the 61st and final fight of his career on December 11, 1981, against Trevor Berbick at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center in Nassau, Bahamas. Drew "Bundini" Brown, Ali's former cornerman, accumulated a huge collection of boxing memorabilia during the many years he worked in Ali's corner. This robe was discovered in Brown's storage locker after his death in 1987. Ali and his agent, Harlan Werner, went through all of the items in the storage locker, and Ali removed those items that he wished to keep for his personal collection. The rest of the items, including this robe, were given to Werner. The robe features an "Everlast/ Made in U.S.A." manufacturer's label on the left breast pocket with a black ruled edge. The Everlast ruled edge label can be attributed to, and seen on, Ali's robes of the period. "Muhammad Ali" is stitched to the back of the robe in black tackle twill lettering. Ali signed the back of the robe in 1989 in black marker; his signature measures 7 1/2 inches in length. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Steve Jackson Authentications.
