A New Era brand Baltimore Orioles mid-1990s hat game worn and signed by Cal Ripken Jr. The black hat features an embroidered red and black Orioles logo on the front, an embroidered Major League Baseball emblem on the back, and Ripken's number "8" written on the underside of the brim in black marker. Stitched into the interior sweatband of the hat is an MLB Authentic Diamond Collection tag, a New Era "the 59/50 Pro Model" tag, and a size "7 3/8" tag. In 1995, Ripken surpassed Lou Gehrig's 56-year-old record for consecutive games played (2,130 games), and in 1996 he broke the world record of consecutive games played (2,216 games).
