Evert Taube's Don Diego Karlsson De La Rosas Roman (Stockholm: Albert Bonniers Forlag, 1962), inscribed on the frontispiece "Till Carl Johan mein prins" ("To My Prince"), and Kerstin Bernadotte's Ettsant Liv (Stockholm: Albert Bonniers Forlag, 1975). Carl Johan Bernadotte (1916-2012) and his wife, Kerstin, were good friends of Garbo's. He was the son of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and uncle of the current king of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. He lost his princely title when he married Kerstin Widmark Bernadotte (1910-1987), a commoner. Carl Johan's second wife is countess Gunilla Wachtmeister. Count and Countess Bernadotte attended Garbo's memorial service in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1999 as guests of the family. Evert Taube (1890-1976) was a Swedish author, artist, composer and singer.
