$15,000
An orange felt flower pot hat worn by a munchkin actress in The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939). The edge of the hat is trimmed with grey and orange wooden beads, and a felt flower with green leaves sprouts from the top of the hat. Label on the interior reads "11. Joyce Kenmore." The current owner received the hat after inquiring with the David Weisz auction house about the 1970 MGM auction. Knowing he could not attend the auction, the young man wrote to the auction house about purchasing a piece of Wizard of Oz memorabilia. The auction house was able to locate this hat for him to purchase. Accompanied by a letter from Judy Carroll of David Weisz Co. Inc. dated June 1, 1970; a newspaper clipping about the hat and its owner; the original transmittal box with "M.G.M. Auction" mailing label; a copy of the book The Wizardry of Oz by Jay Scarfone where this hat can be seen on page 69; and a copy of the film. Height, approximately 8 inches Categories:
