A collection of documents regarding the estate of E. H. Donne, who made Greta Garbo his beneficiary despite the fact that they had never met. Includes 10 letters and copies of letters regarding the estate from lawyers Sullivan and Cromwell beginning in 1947. One letter reads in part, "It now appears that the original estimate of $20,000 of the estate is much too high, and the total estate, after payment of expenses of the administratrix, will be at most a few hundred dollars. If in view of these facts you would rather renounce your legacy and forget the whole thing, please let me know." E.H. Donne was a recluse who lived humbly in a shack in Michigan but had wealth overseas. Getting the money from England proved a problem, so Garbo donated it to charity instead. Categories: Greta Garbo
